QuicKutter takes over where others fail!

M.E.S. was recently asked to inspect and report on shaft condition and cutter viability on a very busy long liner. The shaft was pulled back for survey and bearing was checked. Upon inspection it became very obvious that the existing line cutter was substandard and actually was not doing anything at all.

As you can see there was excessive build up of nylon material under the cutter, and this was melting down to create a solid nylon bock. The nylon then becomes very hard to remove and in this instance had to be cut away with a grinder.

The vessel owner was very quick to recognise the reliability and benefits of the Quickwater Marine quicKutter and M.E.S was contracted to supply and install two quicKutter units on the vessel. The units were mounted opposite each other on a 316 grade stainless steel tube which was in turn mounted to the stern tube.

The composite spool was machined to step into a recess on the fwd face of the propeller and fixed using a combination of 6mm machine screws and Epoxy glue.

M.E.S. will be following the progress of these cutters very closely, so keep checking back for the latest updates.

Quickwater Marine Announce Outboard Version of QuicKutter

Quickwater Marine have recently released the outboard engine version of their quicKutter unit. This is the first rope cutter in the world to release a model specifically for outboard engines, with such design innovation it is little wonder the quicKutter unit is fast becoming the line cutter of choice for vessel owners the world over.

The Suzy70-140 and the John70-140 are the first two in an ever increasing line of quicKutter available for the outboard market. The Suzy70-140 is designed specially for the Suzuki 4 stroke out boards ranging from 70 hp up to 140 hp while the John70-140 covers the same models in the Johnson outboard range.

Sanctuary Cove Boat Show a Huge Success

The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show was the official Launch of the outboard version of the Quickwater Marine quicKutter unit and interest was at an all time high. With a constant stream of interested vessel owners, Doug Davies of Quickwater Marine was in his element displaying the huge benefits of their revolutionary rope cutting system.

The quickutter demonstration unit cut up hundreds of feet of rope and enjoyed the spot light at what was to become a very successful boat show for both M.E.S. and Quickwater Marine. Marine Engineering Solutions would like to extend a huge thanks to Grant and the team at M & J Engineering from Perth, W.A. for all of their help and co-operation at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

Aqua Air Release the Sapphire Digital Thermostat Series

Since Aqua air was the first company to manufacture chill water air conditioning systems for the luxury yacht market, it was only fitting that they lead the way in digital room thermostats. To date the digital controls offered by Aqua Air and its competition have been rather unsigthly, bulky and lacked the electrical circuitry to handle more than two or three 16,00 BTU/H draw through fan coils, which have become the yacht builders fan coil of choice. Owners and interior decorators dealt with the issue by hiding the thermostats from view and yacht builders, concerned with the cost of these controls, challenged Aqua Air to come up with a better solution to the electrical circuitry limitations.

Introducing the Sapphire Series

The Sapphire series was designed to recieve the Vimar Idea series and the Ticino Living Art bezels, giving the owner a wide variety of choice for the style and colour of the surround. The Sapphire series can now blend seamlessly in any interior with ease.

Features include:

Sapphire Blue LED with brigthness control

Highest fan circut rating in the industry

Will control up to six Aqua Air 16KBTUH Wispercoils

Field replaceable fuse protection

Dual Voltage Capability

Modular plug connection for high and low pressure switches

Display cables are 50% smaller than the competitions making routing a snap

Uses less bulky 4 pin plugs instead of the competitions 8
